Who we are
At the Jewish Institute of Queens (JIQ), everything we do is grounded in Torah values and a genuine love for our students. We believe deeply in Derech Eretz Kadma La’Torah—that who a child is comes before what they learn. That means focusing first on building kind, respectful, and responsible individuals, and then helping them grow into confident learners.
Our school is a place where children feel safe, supported, and excited to come each day. We combine a strong academic program with a rich Judaic studies curriculum, giving our students the tools they need to succeed both in the classroom and in life. Our students develop a meaningful connection to their Jewish heritage while strengthening their Hebrew language skills and deepening their understanding of Torah values.
At the same time, we know that no two children are the same. We take the time to understand how each student learns best, set goals together, and support them every step of the way. Our teachers care deeply—not just about academics, but about each child as a whole person.
Beyond the classroom, students are given opportunities to grow socially and emotionally, and to put their values into action through hands-on chesed experiences. We want our students not only to learn about kindness and responsibility, but to truly live it.
JIQ is more than just a school—it’s a community. We work closely with families to create an environment where children feel confident, capable, and proud of who they are. Our goal is simple: to raise thoughtful, knowledgeable, and compassionate students who are prepared to succeed and make a positive impact on the world.
