At the Jewish Institute of Queens, children explore the world through play-based learning, creative arts, music, sensory experiences, and early literacy and numeracy. Our dedicated teachers understand each child’s unique abilities and provide both remedial and enrichment support to help every student thrive.Learning takes place in a hands-on, engaging, and nurturing environment. Our Creative Curriculum, aligned with New York State standards of excellence, emphasizes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Through careful individual observations, teachers design theme-based lessons, personalized instruction, and dynamic small- and large-group learning centers. Each classroom is thoughtfully structured to meet students’ developmental needs and foster a lifelong love of learning.Our Judaic Studies program brings Torah learning to life. Each week, students learn the Parsha of the Weekthrough engaging stories, creative Parsha projects, and Parsha songs that make the lessons meaningful and memorable. We also explore the Jewish holidaysthrough hands-on activities, songs, crafts, and celebrations that allow children to experience the beauty and joy of each Yom Tov.
Curriculum Highlights:
- Jewish Holidays: Each Yom Tov is highlighted with special activities and celebrations that bring the meaning and joy of the holiday into the classroom and the entire school community.
- Parsha and Science: Students enjoy hands-on science experiments and STEM activities that connect to the weekly Parsha, deepening their appreciation of the wonders of Hashem’s world.
- Music and Movement: Our music teacher plays the accordion and sings with the children, reinforcing lessons from the Parsha and classroom unit themes in a fun and active way.
- Nature: Children have opportunities to observe and learn about animals and nature, developing a sense of curiosity and wonder about Hashem’s creations.
- End-of-Unit Celebration: At the conclusion of each unit, students participate in a special celebration that reviews what they’ve learned through hands-on activities and creative experiences.
